These collages are repurposed from drawings and paintings that, though destined for a bonfire, were rescued and transformed. They are an investigation about how the past can be condensed or collapsed and though history may hide itself, it never disappears.
I can't remember ever not working this way - picking up earlier drawings and paintings and reworking them. When I rearrange, or use fragments from, something that I made years earlier, I bring forward marks and remnants of the past, creating a threshold to another time. These small collages are meditative journeys about the memories we hold and what we choose to carry forward or leave behind.
